Radar
Even now
from this great
distance
my thought flits
easily lightly
alighting butterfly-like
on you and on us
as we were
then
and these thoughts like
threads
hang onto me
even here
in this now
I feel their drag
and steely tensile strength
as they transmit
small pulses to me
fragile, sensitive to thought-
shock yet when I choose
I can travel
to and fro
across these thin wires
balancing like an acrobat
emotion
my heart races
bubbling dreams
because of you
but these lines
only stretch
backwards
I have no forward
antenna
to detect
where and how
you are now -
you probably
lead-screened
yourself against
my radar
long ago.
