stones II

the green was suffocating -
rampant and overgrown -
it took all day to
unpack, get two washings on

the sun was hot again
for the end of summer, I
remembered
Rome wasn't built in one
day
and tried to move
just one stone

voices from far away
down the wires
England and the Fife coast
helped me
unmire my mind
climb down from being
fey

tomorrow is another day
another stone
