The Clown II
The cloud stayed, sun veiled
and later on the fog came
down, despite a starry, starry
night, I could see nothing:
clown
all my steps clumsy, awry,
all my sights ill-aimed -
no focus, no luck
all those I left behind: some
in the ground, some dust and
ashes, some are laughing, some
shrug their shoulders, indifferent,
some bat their lashes, turn
away
and in the indifferent day,
the cars passed by - up the
hill and down, and I looked
out of my window at the rain
wondering at my costume: puck -
why am I a clown: clown
in motley, clown in harlequin
