Pandora's Box
It has a
gold bow
and silver
sides and lid
and inside
everything is
hid - all
the thunder
and the
lightning, the
sun and rain
all the rocks
I ran
and my bloody
hands
and the scree
scraped knees
the foul
stench of the
sick trees
and the
poisoned
stream
where they
have been
and all the
poisoned
words in a
dirty stream
all the
slapped
skin
and no
turtle doves
where all the
loves have
gone
and we were
called to
dinner with
the gong
and the yawn
and the shrug
like I don't
give a fuck -
nothing to do
with me:
the poisoned
fruit of the
poisoned tree
and the busy
busy bee
never done
and all the
miles I could
have run
but there was
nowhere to go
'cause they
were all done
the door was
open but
no-one was
there
and in the
darkness
the van is
always
disappearing
down the
lane
and I was
left lame
in mind and
heart
always the
twain shall
part
taking point
from point
until the
heart stopped
and all the
rivers run
and run
and run
and we are
never done
because we
beget
and forget
how poor
it was
to be here
the whole
rotten lot
in the box
