Braille
love
gave me sunshine, roses,
clear day, blue sky,
larks singing,
I reached, trying
see light, breathe air bright,
clean, had been
tight-packed black
blocked wood unmoving
till you came,
burst locks,
stayed, stayed, until I stirred, breathed,
gave hands
lifted me free,
kissed me.
love
gave me wine, lilies,
your strong hand, clear eye,
will to keep me by you,
warm blood, warm breath,
strength to make me
see sky,
feel sun,
braille-lesson.
love
learned the scent of cedar,
heard deer bark,
saw grass stir,
softened skin, widened arms
enough to love the living
world.
love
watered my standing ground
beside you, lilies white and clean,
blossoming.
love
a shining thing
transcended dust, tarnish,
living word
fingers touched.
