summer's end

then the rain came, soft,
intermittent, letting the sun
peep through the clouds awhile
between

he cut and cleared the last
long hedge: job done
the wild may not
permit me again the garden
this side of Spring

the paint is peeling where
elementals attack the
back of my home: peeling
door peeling frame

this place permits no holiday
in the summer months:
too much to get done

wild living, wild heart
this place my home
