storm road

the wind hurled huge
sweeps of rain at me
as I drove, and with
big hands it rocked the car

in the mountain pass
I paused
to rest and eat
marvelling at the

tossing water
hitting the windows
car shaking

it took its toll
the road
I paid it with my
limbs

at home:  heat
bright flame
curtains closed
