raw day

raw rain, unforgiving wind
gusts and clouds - drive
felt long, waited
hours for the man to arrive
and put new rope in
the door

then shopping: aisles full
of food, flowers wilting
how high our rubbish
heaps whilst

half the world starves
I made it home hours
later, cold, tired, glad
of tea and toast

some days are bad
weather days where
the world is stronger
and it wears you down
