garden in March

Cold garden day: the grass
has infested my plants
and the cold air assaulted me,
my bones were weary, I was
glad to come in

I made soup in the evening
and enjoyed its thick warmth.
Something gnaws at me here -
so glad to be here, to know
time in this place, but I am
anxious.

Structure, edifice, takes
time to raise - I try, I left,
I let go, it falls, I try
again, avoiding the call of failure.
Keep the faith: I win. It
takes years of practising
to do anything well. Not
give in.

The rain here is chilled - I will
not let it soak me again.
