Woman's child
grey pall of cloud
all going one way
wind searches the chimney
blows down at me
silence and the clock tick
mind runs away like a
child in sunlight in
search of a merry-go-round,
a helter-skelter, a swing,
a chute, strong limbs
and a heart to run
long roads to life's schools
long roads there and back
to the garden gate, the
key in the lock, to age
and the wisdom of age
all the lessons of life's years
knowing eyes and ears
chores will be once I am done
all I want, need now
is my day in the sun
day of stasis and heartsease
day in the sun
