Soft Autumn

all day the mist
moves up the gorge from the
loch

all day the soft drizzle
mingles with mist
soaking

all day the trees drip
red berries slick
with water

a soft Highland day
in Autumn: rich colour
leaves paint as they dry

mist hangs, moves
over the trees
soft water falling

from leaden skies
no wind, quiet
water dripping

and every breath in
lungs is damp
seeping through stone
