Juxtapose

Ah beautiful day: blue skies
warm sun, summer air in April.
Garden day mixing compost,
mulching the beds - dark
earth highlights the green -
spring flowers not killed by
the frost and snow.

And you my love had many
miles to go from the coast
to here, arriving in the
twilight before the dark came
down. Cold air by then,

freezing overnight. World of
work brought close, glad I am
it is not me. I like to
stay in my green park,
watch the trees.
