Empty House
What strange calm weather,
suspenseful sky, dark purple,
dark blue, brooding grey. As the
light fades not a blade
moves, not a leaf. All the
green is listening. It drained
all my blood today, all my
heart, the moments that make
up our lives. Such sorrow and
vacancy in the strong sunshine -
I wilted like a plant without
water. Severed roots cannot
take-in what they need
and daily I bleed unseen
only I know the flow
and where it goes. I stiffen.
I fade to grey. I dry.
The light goes down and
nobody home. Green grows the
lush grass and the weeds are
rank - how keen I was to go.
Vagrant daughter.
